DOVER - Lorraine Jaye Duffy (nee Green) died at Kent General Hospital in Dover, on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 after a long, heart-related illness. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Donohue and husband Joseph (Dover); and sister, Lucille Moden (Lady Lake, FL). She is preceded in death by her mother, Etta Polite in 1996, and her father, Jesse Green in 1968. Born on Feb. 26, 1946, in Woodbury, New Jersey, she lived in Delaware most of her life. She graduated from Milford High School, attended Butera School of Art in Boston, and earned her Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Wilmington University. She was a beloved and dedicated employee of the State of Delaware for over 23 years. During her impressive career, she led the implementation of the State's legacy HR/Payroll system (EIS) and was instrumental in moving the state from semi-monthly to bi-weekly pay. Her laughter, radiant smile, and generous nature touched everyone she met. She had many hobbies which included: attending Rock and Roll concerts (the Rolling Stones), reading Horror/Fiction (Stephen King), playing the guitar, painting, and watching scary movies. But her first love was comedy and she, along with her daughter, promoted two Comedy Shows as Stand-Up Productions in the Dover area - 1990 at the Blue Hen Mall and 2010 at the Camden-Wyoming Fire Hall. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave, Wyoming, DE 19934. Friends may gather beginning at 9:15a.m. Burial will be held in private. Her family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the cardiac surgical team, doctors, nurses, and staff on both 2 North and Cardiovascular/Surgical ICU at Kent General Hospital who so compassionately cared for her during her illness. As such, in lieu of flowers, her family is accepting donations towards a comfortable sleeper chair that will be donated in her memory to the CVSICU.
