(nee Billman), 87 WILMINGTON - Lois H. Reagen (nee Billman), age 87, of Wilmington, formerly of Dover, and Frazer, Pa., passed away on April 23, 2012. Beloved wife of late Edward J. Reagen III died peacefully surrounded by her family. Lois was born on Aug. 16, 1924, in Palmyra, N.J., to the late Frank and Florence Hayes Billman. She is survived by son, Scott E. Reagen, and daughter-in-law, Barbara of Wilmington; son, Edward J. Reagen IV of Reseda, Calif.; and son, David A. Reagen, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth. She graduated with the class of 1943 at Tredyffrin-Easttown High School where she lettered in field hockey. After graduating high school, she enjoyed commuting daily on the Paoli local to Philadelphia, to work for the Pennsylvania RR. This commute reminded her of her father who worked for the railroad and allowed her to do what she enjoyed most, meeting and talking with people. During this time Lois' humanitarianism blossomed. She volunteered with the Red Cross at Valley Forge Hospital by speaking with wounded World War II veterans and also found time to write letters to more than twenty GIs overseas. After the war she met and married her soldier Edward J Reagen III. She and her husband were founding members of the East Whiteland Fire Company, where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary. This 17 year dedication to EWFC was mutually rewarding for both. Lois was also a dedicated member of the Eastern Star. Upon moving to Dover, Lois enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Census Bureau and Pop Warner football. She enjoyed her dogs, Mitzie and Brandy, going to the Acme, John Wayne, tomato sandwiches, neighbors and friends. If you had the time she had a funny story to tell. She will be remembered as a selfless, compassionate, kind and funny mother and person. She will be missed by many but many have been patiently waiting for her arrival. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Chapel of the Church of the Good Samaritan, 212 West Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, Pa. Interment will take place at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice 3515 Silverside Road Wilmington, DE 19810, Alzheimer's Association 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Apt #1 Wilmington, DE 19805; or East Whiteland Fire Association/Ladies Auxiliary 170 Planebrook Road Frazer, PA 19355.
