Delaware men’s lacrosse standout Charlie Kitchen signed a professional contract with the Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League on Tuesday.

Kitchen signed a three-year deal and will be a part of the FireWolves’ inaugural season that will begin this fall.

“I’m excited ... for the opportunity to live out a childhood dream,” Kitchen said.

With the Blue Hens, Kitchen compiled 239 points (146 goals, 93 assists) and 89 ground balls. He is one of just six players in program history to tally 200 career points and one of just two to rank among the top-10 in goals, assists and points at Delaware.

Additionally, the Marlton, N.J. native finished second in CAA history in career points, third in goals and fourth in assists.

UD assistant promoted: Delaware head men’s lacrosse coach Ben DeLuca announced that Trey Wilkes has been promoted to assistant coach.

Wilkes’ promotion comes after the Blue Hens finished 10-3 overall and 7-1 in conference. Since joining the coaching staff in the fall of 2017 as a volunteer assistant, Wilkes has helped Delaware compile a 30-18 overall record.
