Brooke Hollingsworth scored in the 16th minute for the Vikings (3-3 North), who finish the regular season with an overall record of 9-6.
Freshman goalie Lucy Siranides made four saves to earn the shutout. Cape held advantages of 15-4 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks.
Brittney Rosello made 14 saves for Dover, which finishes 0-5-1 in the North, 3-10-2 overall.
Caesar Rodney 7, Polytech 1: Jessie Prillaman and Laynee Ford netted three goal apiece as the Riders wrapped up the North title.
The Riders will face South champion Indian River in the Henlopen Conference championship game on Thursday at Sussex Academy at 6 p.m.
Alexis Pflumm added the other goal for CR, which finished with advantages of 20-7 in shots and 5-1 in corner kicks. Marianna Nuzzo and Morgan Desaulniers combined for four saves.
Alyssa-Lynn Brown made 10 saves for the Panthers, who got a second-half goal from Meadow Watkinson.
Indian River 6, Woodbridge 0: Madison Hogsten tallied four goals as the Indians (14-1 overall) finished 7-0 in the Henlopen South.
Isabella Keith and Skyler McClure also scored for IR, which outshot the Raiders, 14-1.
Alyssa Burhop made six saves for Woodbridge.
Lake Forest 9, Sussex Academy 1: The Spartans rolled to the Henlopen South win.
Sussex Tech 1, Smyrna 0: The Ravens used a first-half goal to post the Henlopen North win.
Delmar 8, Milford O: Logan Walls and MacKenzie Niblett had three goals and an assist each as the Wildcats picked up a South victory.
Laurel 1, Seaford 1: Seona Rice’s goal on a penalty kick in the 24th minute gave the Bulldogs’ the Henlopen South tie.
Brianna Jenkins made four saves for Laurel, which held advantages of 36-5 in shots and 9-1 in corner kicks.
Monderly Simeon scored in the ninth minute for the Blue Jays with Bethany Rankin making 16 saves.
Appoquinimink 5, Delmarva Christian 0: The Jaguars netted all five goals in the first half.
Red Lion 5, Sussex Central 0: Adriana Lopez made 12 saves for the Golden Knights in the loss.
Baseball
Smyrna 12, Sussex Tech 3: The Eagles scored five runs in both the second and third to take control of the Henlopen Conference contest.
Maxwell Lattomus and Desmond Wilson each went 3-for-4 with a combined four RBI for Smyrna with winning pitcher Eric Carrow striking out eight.
Anthony Hitchcock had two hits, with a double, for the Ravens.
Dover 11, Indian River 7: The Senators (9-3 in conference, 12-4 overall) held on to first place in the Henlopen North with the victory.
Dover closes its conference schedule at Delmar on Friday. Cape Henlopen and Smyrna have finished their Henlopen slates at 9-4 while Polytech (7-4 in conference) still has two league games remaining.
Delmar 5, Polytech 4: The Wildcats scored twice in the top of the fifth to pull out the conference win.
Winning pitcher Jimmy Adkins and Christian Murphy both had two hits for Delmar.
Cape Henlopen 4, Lake Forest 0: The Vikings blanked the Spartans in the conference matchup.
Caesar Rodney 7, Laurel 6: Austin Russell’s walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh lifted the Riders to their third straight win.
Russell (two doubles) went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI while Noah DeAtley and Ryan Rigby, who earned the win in relief, combined for eight strikeouts. Pinch-runner Brighton Dawson scored the winning run.
Perez Nichols went 3-for-4 with a first-inning homer for Laurel.
Milford 6, Woodbridge 1: Winning pitcher Brock Hilligoss allowed only three hits and struck out five in five innings.
Abraham Mow went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Milford, which led 5-0 after three innings.
Kolby Rust singled home the Raiders’ lone run.
Caravel 6, Sussex Central 5: The Buccaneers snapped the Golden Knights’ six-game winning streak with a walkoff win in the 12th.
Delcastle 13, St. Thomas More 3: De’Markus Lee had a hit and stole a pair of bases for the Ravens.
Sussex Central 7, Lake Forest 6: Trevor Collins singled home Vonnie Toppin with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Golden Knights on Monday.
Trailing 6-0, the Spartans rallied for two runs in the sixth and four in the top of the seventh to tie the score at 6-6. Dalton Holemo and Nathan McGray both had multiple hits for Lake.
Collins and Brady Bowden each had multiple hits for the Knights.
Softball
Smyrna 9, Sussex Tech 6: The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the eighth to down the Ravens in the Henlopen North showdown.
The victory clinched the North title for Smyrna (11-2 in conference, 14-3 overall), which has won five games in a row.
Lake Forest 20, Cape Henlopen 3: Mya Maddox went 5-for-5 with a homer, double and four RBI to lead the Spartans to the conference win.
Kerrigan Simpson (3-for-4, 3 RBI) added a pair of homers with Brooke Glanden (3-for-3, 5 RBI) adding one. Kaitlyn Stahre contributed four hits and four RBI to Lake’s 22-hit attack.
Hannah Jones had three hits with Jordyn Virden adding two for Cape.
Caesar Rodney 1, Laurel 0: Alyssa Ball pitched a two-hitter to earn the shutout for the Riders.
Sophia Badell’s two-out single scored Carissa Thorne with the game’s only run in the fifth.
Lexie Ullman and Little Hitchens had the Bulldogs’ hits.
Milford 13, Woodbridge 0: Rajene Bowe, who homered, and Gen Chamberlayne both went 3-for-3 for the Buccaneers.
Morgan Abbott threw a five-inning two-hitter for Milford, which scored eight runs in the second.
Brittanie Stephenson and Erica Olsen had the Raiders’ hits.
Delmar 7, Polytech 5: The Wildcats used a five-run fifth to overcome an early 5-1 deficit.
Avery Wheatley, Jordan Moore and Haley Rogers, who had a homerun, all had two hits for Delmar,
Jazlee Rojas had three of the Panthers’ nine hits with Kaite Burawski adding a pair of doubles. Polytech had five doubles in the contest.
Lacrosse
BOYS, Salesianum 17, Caesar Rodney 3: The Sals cruised to the nonconference win over the Riders.
Polytech 16, St. Andrew’s 8: The Panthers posted their fourth straight win to improve to 10-4.
Concord 14, Lake Forest 5: Jarred Camper scored twice for the Spartans, who got 10 saves from Nathan Carey.
Delmarva Christian 12, McKean 7: The Royals outscored the Highlanders, 5-1, in the second half to sew up the win.
GIRLS, Sussex Academy 24, St. Thomas More 15: Molly Martiner netted seven goals while Kelsey Smith and Isabella Kwan added four goals apiece in the Seahawks’ win on Monday.
Gillian Crawford had nine goals for the Ravens with Sophia Stafford adding four.
College baseball
Pair of Hornets honored: Delaware State pitcher Lane DeLeon and catcher Evan Regez were named to the All Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference baseball second team.
DeLeon, a junior from Sussex Tech, is third in the MEAC with a 2.62 earned run average. He’s also tied for sixth in the league with 56 strikeouts and is eighth with 16 batters struck out looking.
Regez, also a junior, is tops on the Hornets with a .333 batting average, highlighted by a .350 mark in MEAC games this season. He has a team-high 48 hits and is tied for the lead with 29 runs scored this year.
DelState will take on Florida A&M in the opening round of the MEAC Tournament today in Salisbury, Md.
Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
The Hornets are a No. 2 tournament seed by virtue of their second-place finish in the MEAC North regular season standings. Florida A&M was third in the MEAC South regular season race to earn a No. 3 seed.
College softball
Burton named all-region: Wilmington University freshman Rosa’Lynn Burton (Caesar Rodney) and sophomore Caitlyn Whiteside earned more postseason All-Region honors as they were both voted to the Division II Conference Commissioner Association Softball All-East Region team.
Burton earned her second first-team All-Region honor after leading the East Region in multiple categories.
College equestrian
Hornets win award: For the second time in the five-year history of the honor, Delaware State has been presented with the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s annual Sportsmanship Award.
The award, selected by NCEA coaches, was presented at the group’s annual convention last week. The Sportsmanship Award encompasses the entire 2016-17 season of competition.
College basketball
Ex-UD coach Martin gets new job: Former Delaware women’s basketball coach Tina Martin has been hired as an assistant at UNC-Wilmington.
Martin, who stepped down after 21 seasons as the Blue Hens’ head coach last month, will be on the staff of head coach Karen Barefoot with the Seahawks.
