Lionel Francis Shockley, 77 CEDAR NECK - Lionel Francis "Big Boy" Shockley, 77, of Cedar Neck, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Bayhealth Medical Center, Milford Memorial Hospital. Mr. Shockley was born in Milford, the son of the late Granville Wilson and Hilda (Roberts) Shockley. He lived in the family farmhouse that his great-great-grandfather bought in 1875, and he continued the family tradition of farming. Lionel was an original Cedar Necker. He loved the Philadelphia Phillies and enjoyed NASCAR. He enjoyed bowling, being active for 50 years before retiring from the sport in 2008. He was a trustee of Cedar Neck Church, a Board member of Milford Grain, a Past Board member of Southern States, and a member of the Milford Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2401. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Lionel Shockley; and two brothers John Shockley, and Drexel Shockley. He is survived by two daughters, Donita Shockley - Hoover and her husband Oscar and Kim S. Steele and her husband Bill, all of Milford; three sons, Steven L. Shockley and his wife Kris, Greg W. Shockley and his wife Penny and Neil F. Shockley and his wife Carrie; all of Milford; two brothers, Richard Shockley, and Wilson Shockley, both of Milford; three sisters, Marie Scarborough, Irma Jones, and Lola Knotts, all of Milford; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 North Church Street, Milford. Burial was in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Cedar Neck Church, c/o Lola Knotts, 3413 McColley Road, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.
