HARRINGTON - Lionel E. "Lonnie" Wirick, Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Christiana Hospital, Newark.
The son of the late Lionel E. Wirick, Sr. and Myrtle (Tatman) Wirick, Lonnie graduated from Harrington High School class of 1966 and then graduated from Goldey Beacom College with a degree in accounting. He began his career as an accountant working in Wilmington but when that job ended decided to move back home and got involved in owning and training race horses for many years. Lonnie also operated a small upholstery business in Harrington for a period of time. For much of his life, he loved bowling and could be found at the Milford Bowling Lanes several times a week. He also enjoyed Orioles baseball, fishing, wood carving, gardening and going out to the simulcast at Harrington Casino.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Carole Kats (Dale), Larry Wirick (Shirley), Janet Rettig (Jeffrey), and Lisa Ellingsworth (Eddie); as well as many nieces and nephews.
