Lewis W. 'Bill' Sapp, 93 HARRINGTON - Lewis W. "Bill" Sapp, of Harrington, passed away peacefully, in his home, on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010. He was 93. Bill was born in Houston, son of the late Leroy and Iva (Gleason) Sapp. Bill was a farmer in the Houston and Harrington areas for many years. Whether he was fishing, hunting or farming, he enjoyed the outdoors. Bill also enjoyed refinishing furniture. He was a member of the Delaware Farm Bureau, and had attended Trinity U.M. Church in Harrington and Zion U.M. Church in Milton. He and his late wife, Marie, also enjoyed having a cottage at Prime Hook Beach. He had many fond memories of the time spent with his family there at the beach. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie (Dodd) Sapp; three sisters, Genevieve Smith, Margaret Coverdale, and Grace Lyons; and three brothers, Albert, Emerson, and Charles. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Sapp Sr., and Barbara of Milton; two grandchildren, Jean Messick and husband Alan, Richard Sapp Jr., and Michele Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jeremy Messick and Richard "Trey" III and Lori Sapp. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. or Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. Contributions in Bill's memory can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or Zion U.M. Church, c/o Chris Lank, 13669 Coastal Highway, Milton, DE 19968.
