OAK ORCHARD - Lewis "Lew" Russell Hawley, Sr., passed in the comfort of his home in the company of his family on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Lew was born on Jan. 7, 1952 in East Stroudsburg, Pa., and moved to the Oak Orchard/Georgetown area after graduating from Great Valley High School in Pennsylvania in 1969. He worked two summers at NCR in Millsboro while attending Gannon College in Erie, Pa. He began working for Diamond State Telephone, which is now known as Verizon, until his retirement 31 years later. Most recently he worked at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club as Greens Keeper/Maintenance. Lew was a life member of the Pioneers, he enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife. His hobbies were woodworking and model railroading. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Charles; step-mom, Barbara; sister, Jeannie; brother, David; and his daughter, Stephanie. He is survived by his mother, Joyce; step-dad, William; wife of 37 years, Jean; and his children, Lewis Jr. (Vickie), Arianne (Corey), and Jennifer (Adam); grandchildren, Ashley, Dyllan, Nate, Samantha, Alexys, Matthew, Trent, Jeremy, Daniel, Ryan, and Taylor; and four great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Katrina (Ron), Jan, Chris (Debra), Candace (Jim), William Jr., Tabitha (Bob); numerous nieces and nephews; and Max his four legged companion. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 12 noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, De 19968, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
