Lewis: After tariff ‘growing pains,’ fiscal situation should improve

Posted

It is my understanding that the U.S. is trying to balance the tariff levels between countries. According to CBS News, the U.S. is getting charged by most countries more than what it is charging them. That is not fair, and I now realize that what the Trump administration is doing is more than fair.

The thing that concerns me the most, based on power, is China. This tariff battle can only lead to poorer relationships. Another concern is with the neighbor to the north — Canada. The United States has always had a good relationship with that nation, and I would like to see a balanced tariff agreement be made with it as soon as possible.

I think there will be growing pains in the beginning, but I also feel it will be for the best before the end of the year. According to Donald Trump’s top economic adviser, 50 countries have reached out to negotiate tariffs. Fifty countries have already agreed to negotiations with the U.S. to fix the issue. So, it is already working.
