A 58-year-old Lewes woman died Tuesday after being struck by a box truck while riding a bicycle on John J. Williams Highway in Lewes, Delaware State Police said.

Lewes bicyclist dies in crash with box truck

LEWES — A 58-year-old Lewes woman died Tuesday after being struck by a box truck while riding a bicycle on John J. Williams Highway, Delaware State Police said.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 1:57 a.m. when the bicycle operated by Lisa Norton entered the eastbound lane into the path of the truck.  The incident occurred just west of Mulberry Knoll Road.

Ms. Norton was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, a 60-year-old Salisbury, Maryland man, was wearing a seat belt and not injured, police said.

Investigation continues and police asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Master Cpl. by calling 302-703-3264. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
