Letter to the Editor: Let’s rescue local animals first

Posted

A recent Delaware State News article covered how animal-rescue groups in Delaware brought in dogs and cats from Louisiana because of the storms they had down there (“99 pets relocated in 100th partnership flight,” Oct. 7).

Nice gesture, but we have our own excess populations to manage here that we could use help with. For example, all the cat-rescue places I’ve talked with are full and have no room to fix or place the mother and her four kittens who ended up in one of my buildings out here in the country.

Seems animals here would deserve first shot at any extra effort to manage overpopulation or provide care.
