Letter to the Editor: America, do not spend money we don’t have

The liberal Democratic membership led by Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., believes that a “free for all” agenda is the way for America to pursue. They could not be more wrong. Where do they think the majority of their spending plans will come from? The billionaires and one-percenters? As my old grandma said, “You’ve got another think comin’.” It is destined for the liberal trickle-down effect for the working-class people of America, the ones who were promised a “Build Back Better” lifestyle that will never happen.

President Joe Biden needs to maintain a congenial relationship with the big spenders. After all, they got him the job he has always wanted, whether he is able to perform effectively or not. The progressives know that. That is why they keep pushing their plans for elimination of all fossil fuel production (prior to the Biden election, America was the No. 1 energy supplier in the world, and America’s gas prices were as low as they had been in years). Our current prices and supply limitations are at a high level of distress, something the Biden administration seems to not want to address and, no doubt, ever will. These far-left thinkers took over the Democratic Party. Anyone who wants to remain a Democrat has to at least tolerate the far left or be left out in the political cold. The liberals are demanding free community college, extended Medicare for all and free prekindergarten for their chosen constituents. That is not the American way.

How did America become the greatest and most powerful nation in the world? Not by the standards now set by the big spending liberals but by conservative resource management and individual initiative to achieve their personal goals. Not by government control of our entire lives! If liberal-thinking Americans follow the easy street projected by the AOC group, perhaps they should visit Cuba, Venezuela, Chile and Guatemala and view how citizens there are suffering at the hands of their ruling class.

Of course, we could just view our wide-open Southern borders, where the Biden administration had initially spoken the words of “Welcome, come on up.” The Trump wall will no longer prevent anyone’s ability for comin’ to America. Biden has attempted to destroy anything Donald Trump successfully accomplished and replaced it with dangerous agendas that will destroy America’s way of life.

Money is no object for the “free thinkers” of the new Democratic Party. Payment will be optional for all and any undocumented individuals, who will be protected by the Democratic liberals. American citizens survive at their own risk. With our deficit completely out of control, the Biden initiatives will expand it beyond anyone’s imagination or capability of stopping its escalation. A quote often attributed to Sen. Everett Dirksen on the subject: “A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money." He must be turning in his grave when viewing the monetary nightmare America is now encased in.

It looks as if a strong Republican majority in the House, Senate and presidential elections in 2022 and 2024 is America’s only hope for survival and future success, even though, currently, Beijing, Moscow, Tehran and Pyongyang are dancing in the streets at their good fortunes with Biden.
