Lester J. White Jr., 65

FREDERICA - Mr. Lester J. White Jr., died on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 65. Born in Wilmington, on Sept. 16, 1943, Mr. White was the son of the late Lester J. White Sr. and Jeanette P. Flynn White. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and, in civilian life, was an accomplished carpenter by trade. Mr. White was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing. A gifted athlete himself, he was a state bowling champion in earlier years. Mr. White will remembered most of all as a generous and talented man, who happily lent his expertise to family and friends when they began any building or carpentry projects. He is survived by his children, Jeanette L. Burton of Middletown, Mary A. Wade of Delaware City, Kevin J. White of Milford, and Daniel T. White of Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters, Janet I. Calloway of Frederica, Audrey L. Stewart of Middletown, Rosemary O'Neal of Bear, and Julia C. Carrol of Smyrna; five grandchildren; goddaughter, Hailey Ryall; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton St., Delaware City. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
