MILFORD - Lenny was born in Milford on Dec. 24, 1956. He had just celebrated his 52nd birthday on Christmas Eve. Surrounded by his family and loved ones, he went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, Jan. 22, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a 1974 graduate of Milford High School and received his bachelors in history from Delaware State University in 1978. He was a mechanic at Pritchett's Auto Repair, the family business for over 30 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and an Earnhardt fan. He and his son Layton frequented Dover Downs Speedway for all events. Lenny also loved racing stock cars at the local dirt track. Initially, he worked with his brothers and the family on car #91. He raced his car #6 and later built and maintained race cars for his son Layton to drive. He loved building cars for and competing in the Demolition Derby at the Fair. He also cherished spending time with his daughter, Leanne, her husband Mike, and his grandchildren Tyler and Hayden. Growing a garden with his family was also one of his favorite pastimes. He recently became engaged to Tina Hunter from Dover and enjoyed his time with her and her sons Kyle and Chayton. Lenny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted deer, turkey, and waterfowl with his family and friends. Fishing in the Delaware Bay and clamming in Rehoboth Bay were among his favorite activities. Lenny was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Pritchett and is survived by his mother, Louella Pritchett; his daughter, Leanne Garrett and her husband Mike; his son Layton; his brother, Fred and his wife Karen; his sister, Carolyn Lazar and her husband Ron; his brother, Bob Pritchett; grandchildren, Tyler Garrett and Hayden Garrett; nieces, Theresa Pritchett and Elizabeth Pritchett; and his nephew, Garren Lazar. Services were held at Berry Short Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
