Leadership Central Delaware visits Delaware State News

DOVER - Members of the Leadership Central Delaware Class of 2015 spent Thursday, April 2, at the office of the Delaware State News and Polytech High School during the group's annual Communications and Media Day.

Leadership Central Delaware is a yearlong program of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce. Students are leaders of local businesses and organizations.

Delaware State News manager editor Andrew West is chair of the annual Communications and Media Day. He is a 2009 alum of the program.

The day started with a tour of Delaware Printing Company where the Delaware State News and other publications are printed on a state-of-the-art press.

The class was engaged in a reporting exercise and four participants were chosen to present news reports, recorded by high school students in the new studio at Polytech High School.

An afternoon panel discussion featured a discussion about identifying audiences with Delaware State News publisher Tom Byrd, WBOC's Dover bureau chief Michael Chesney and Dover public affairs officer 1st Lt. Sarah Bergstein.
