Lawrence 'Larry' Edward McLaughlin, 58 LEWES - Lawrence "Larry" Edward McLaughlin, age 58, of Lewes, died suddenly on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, following a motorcycle accident near Lewes. He was born in Philadelphia, on Dec. 8, 1951, son of the late Thomas Francis McLaughlin and Gwendolyn M. Moore McLaughlin of Millsboro. For the past 29 years he was employed as a foreman for the City of Lewes, Maintenance Department. He was a member and past president of the Lewes Lions Club, member of the Redman's Lodge, Nassau, member and past president of the Punkin Chunkin Association, member of ABATE, member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 17, and member of the Legion Riders Post 28 Oak Orchard. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved fishing and boating. He was also an avid Earnhardt NASCAR Fan and Eagles Fan. His life revolved around his daughter and grandson. He is survived by his daughter, Mandy Lynn McLaughlin and grandson Kolin Smith, both of Lewes; his stepson, Christopher Miller of Lewes; two brothers, Joseph McLaughlin of Bucks County, Pa., and Thomas McLaughlin of Millsboro; and a sister, Eileen McLaughlin of Millsboro. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence E. McLaughlin, Jr. in 2007. A Celebration of Larry's Life will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Friends may also call on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at St. Peters Cemetery, Pilottown, Lewes. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lewes Lions Club, P.O. Box 791, Lewes, DE 19958.
