Laurel man arrested on gun, drug charges

LAUREL — A 32-year-old Laurel man was arrested on gun and drug charges Thursday, Delaware State Police said.

Spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said Jeron Henry, a probationer, was found to be in possession of cocaine during an office visit to Delaware Probation & Parole. Subsequently, state police detectives visited his residence on the 13000 block of Shiloh Church Road to assist probation officers with a search.

Officers located suspected heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine, Suboxone, a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number, accompanying ammunition and over $4,400 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.

Three children in the house were turned over to a family member.

Henry is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition, Cpl. DeMalto said.

On Thursday, he was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity (two counts), possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity (two counts), possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia (three counts) and endangering the welfare of a child (three counts).

Henry was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $188,500 cash bond.
