LAUREL — An 18-year-old car passenger from Philadelphia died during a head-on collision Thursday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Amina Ali said.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:38 p.m. on Seaford Road, at the intersection with Mount Zion Road. The man was riding in a 1998 Honda Civic that collided with a 1998 Mazda B2500 on a slight curve, police said.
Cpl. Ali said the driver of the Honda was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The passenger who died also was not wearing a seat belt, she said.
The Mazda’s driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was also in critical condition and taken to an area hospital.
The road was closed for approximately three hours, while the investigation was underway and the crash was cleared.
