Laura Thomas, 52 DOVER - Laura Thomas, of Dover, passed away Tuesday July 14, 2009, at Bayhealth Medical Center. She was 52. She was born Sept. 16, 1956, in Dover, and was the daughter of Victoria and the late Albert Cajthaml. Laura attended Holy Cross and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, earned her Bachelor's Degree from Delaware State University and received her MBA from Southern Illinois University. She had worked as a State Auditor, comptroller at Paradee Gas Company, taught business at Wilmington College, and also taught in the business department at Dover High School. Laura also served as Treasurer for several years for the Teachers Union and the Business Professionals of America. She retired from Dover High School due to illness in Nov. 2008. Laura loved working with children, was a member of Holy Cross Church, enjoyed working with flowers, and gardening. She also loved traveling, boating, the beach, and especially loved watching Dover High School Basketball games. She was especially fond of visiting Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia which always brought her peace. Laura was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Thompson. Besides her mother, she is survived by her two children, Jamie Thomas of Dover, and David Thomas, of Lansing, Mich.; one brother, Albert (Christine) Cajthaml; two grandchildren, Cameryn and Addyson Thomas; four nieces, Kimberley (Tony) Caputa, Candace (Clifton) Mitchell, Jennifer (Rob) Pinkerton, and Melissa Cajthaml, along with several aunts and cousins. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday July 19, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State Street, Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, S. State Street, Dover. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Family suggest donations in her memory to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934. Condolences may be forwarded and Guest Book signed via www.ambruso.com.
