DOVER — The Lake Forest High boys’ track & field team captured its first team state championship in six years this afternoon.
The Spartans collected 114 points in the two-day event to beat out second-place Tatnall (100) for the DIAA Division II state crown.
Lake Forest last won the team state title in 2015. It was the program’s sixth boys’ Division II title overall.
The Spartans are the only Henlopen Conference program to win the boys’ Division II championship since 2011. St. Mark’s won the Division II girls’ team state title.
The finals in both Division I state meets were being held this afternoon. Padua (girls) and Salesianum (boys) had considerable leads in both team standings with Henlopen Conference champion Smyrna second in both.
