MT. JOY, Pa. - Kristie Anne Beatman, 57, died surrounded by her family Hospice of Lancaster County, Mt. Joy, on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. Born in Alexandria, Va., she was the daughter of the late James W. Beatman and Mary Lou Scarborough Beatman of Felton, Del. Kristie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Dance from Antioch College and her M. A. in Choreography from New York University She spent her professional career as a dancer in off Broadway in New York and other cities throughout the country. She was a dance teacher at Lancaster Catholic High School for the past 12 years and worked at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Susie Miller and Rhythm Methods in San Francisco, Calif., Viktors and the International Ballet Academy of Dance, Lancaster, Pa. She attended Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster. Kristie is survived by her mother; two brothers, Jeff husband of Patty Beatman of Chester, Va., and Gus Beatman of Canberra, Australia; nieces, Meghan, wife of Brian West, Kelly, wife of Chris Long, and Ella Beatman; and nephews, Nicki and Aiodan Beatman . A Celebration of Kristie's life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster, 538 W. Chestnut, Lancaster, Pa., at 3 p.m. Another memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Camden Friends Meeting House in Camden, Del. Interment will be private for family. Contributions may be made in Kristie's memory to Lancaster Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601. Online condolences may be posted on our Web site: www.thegroffs.com.
