Kirk A. Rogers

MILLSBORO – Kirk A. Rogers passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Kirk was born in Lewes, son to David J. Rogers and the late Debra (Bender) Rogers. SSG Kirk Allen Rogers received an Honorable Discharge and retired from the US Army after nine years' service. Kirk's military career included serving as an Infantryman and Army Ranger as well as Army Recruiter. He received numerous awards and commendations during his Army career. Kirk loved spending time hunting and being outdoors. He was a coach with Millsboro Little League as well as the Wake travel ball team. Kirk loved to quietly help everyone and never let anyone know he had done it. He also enjoyed serving the local community through his affiliation with the Good Ole Boys Foundation. Kirk is survived by his wife of ten years, Wendy (Warren) Rogers; two children, Garrett Rogers and Aubrey Rogers, all at home; his parents, David and Louanne Rogers, of Bridgeville; three sisters, Tracey Gray, of Seaford, Cari Vitone, of Lincoln University, Pa., and Kimberley Cooper, of Millsboro; and grandparents, Nancy Jefferson, of Fla. and Louise and Bill Hastings, of Seaford. A funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with visitation after 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the PNC Bank for a trust fund established for his children, or the Good Ole Boys Foundation, 25596 Asbury Road, Seaford, DE 19973.
