TOWNSEND - Kenneth "Ken" Paul Bolyard, Jr. passed away peacefully at Kent General Hospital surrounded by his family on March 31, 2021.
Ken was born on April 13, 1954 in Morgantown, W.Va. to Kenneth P. and Donalda Bolyard.
He graduated from Middletown High School in 1972. Ken began working at a young age by delivering the News Journal on his bicycle. He then worked for Smokey's Gulf Station pumping gas. He began and retired from his lifelong career at the Delaware River and Bay Authority.
Ken enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, cards, and pool, and going to Dover Downs. He was an active member, past Governor, and currently the Sergeant at Arms of the Smyrna Clayton Moose Family Center Lodge #2046.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth P. Bolyard.
Ken is survived by his mother, Donalda Bolyard; his daughter, Katelyn Allen (Chris); granddaughters, Colleen and Elizabeth Nicholson and Brinley Allen that he adored dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Diamelen Bowman (Michael); and brothers, Phil and Don (Sandy) Bolyard; many nieces and nephews; and aunt, Drusilla Givens (Ernie) of St. Louis, Missouri that he talked to weekly.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 7 p.m. at Connection Community Church, 4744 Summit Bridge Rd., Middletown, DE 19709, visitation will be held from 6 – 7 p.m. Per COVID restrictions everyone is required to wear a mask.
