Kenneth H. Straughn

TOWNSEND - Kenneth H. Straughn of Townsend, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011, peacefully surrounded by his family. He was 59. Mr. Straughn was born March 27, 1952, in Dover, the son of the late Harvey Whaley Straughn and Viola Elizabeth Little Straughn. He retired after working for many years as a Supervisor for the State of Delaware. Mr. Straughn was a member of the Delmarva Poultry Association. He enjoyed fresh water fishing, auction sales, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles D. Straughn; and a sister, Margaret L. Voss. He is survived by three brothers, Harvey W. Straughn and his wife Barbara, Arthur T. Straughn and his wife Barbara, and George H. Straughn and his wife Dorothy, all of Townsend; two sisters, Kathleen Baker and her husband Eugene of York, Pa., and Pat Bradburn and her husband Gordon of Port Orchard, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Memorial services will be 6 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011, in the Smyrna Wesleyan Church, located on 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 5 p.m. Burial will be private. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Delaware Hospice and to his private care givers for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19904. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
