SEAFORD - Kathy Elaine Stuart West died in Lynchburg, Va. on Friday, October 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Stuart and Bonnie Jean Robinson Maddox, and her son, Douglass Schwenneker. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, David Whitfield West, two sons, Shawn Paul and Michael David West, and her daughter, Kimberly Whitfield West Pickinpaugh. Kathy is also survived by 12 grandchildren. Born in Fort Bragg, NC, Kathy grew up as a military child that was well traveled. She lived in exotic locations such as Kenya and Japan. As an adult, Kathy lived all over the United States. She married and settled in Seaford, Del., where she lived as a wife, mother, and friend. Kathy loved music, the arts, and all things in nature. She was a very talented artist and creative writer. She loved animals and saved many feral cats. Kathy was a homemaker and was very active with the Boy Scouts as her sons were growing up. Kathy and her husband owned a local photography store in Seaford for several years. Services for Kathy will be held at Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, Md. on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. Friends may call 9 to 10 a.m. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, family ask that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), www.aspca.org/donate, or your local ASPCA.
