MILLINGTON, Md. - Kathryn Bottomley, 84 of Millington, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the Chester River Hospital Center with her loving family by her side. Born near Henderson, she was the daughter of the late Allie and Grace Seward. She was predeceased by her first husband, James Roger Teat in 1958. Affectionately known as "Kitty," her love for singing Country Music began as a teenager, being most noted as one of the "Blue Bonnett Girls" in the band "The Blue Hen Ramblers." She was a life member of VFW Post 652 where she had served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary and Chaplain. She loved to travel and go shopping. She was a wonderful mother and loving wife and will be sorely missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Earl "Butch" Bottomley; six children, Sandy Teat of Dover, Del., Luke O'Brien of Dover, Cindy McClain of Millington, Sherri Szczechura of Dover, Ron Teat of Elkton, and Kevin Bottomley of Millington; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two special ladies in her life whom she said were like sisters, her cousin Edith Davis and sister in-law, Mary Pearson. A viewing will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 Cypress Street, Millington. Services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Millington Asbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Millington Vol. Fire Company, P.O. Box 255 Millington, MD 21651.
