Logan Nickerson, 94 DOVER - Kathryn Marie Logan Nickerson went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2013. Kathryn was born in Chestertown, Md. She moved to Dover in the early 50's. While maintaining her family and a working farm, she worked at Kent General Hospital for several years. Kathryn joined the Cheswold United Methodist Church in 1952, where she remained a very devoted and active member throughout her life. She served as President for the Cheswold United Methodist Women for eight years and was a Trustee of the church for several years. She was best known for her amazing canned beets served at the church country fair. Everyone raved at how good they were. She was an awesome homemaker, teaching several generations how to can vegetables, make dumplings, and bake rolls. In 1984, at the age of 65, she returned to school to receive her High School diploma, and graduated as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1985. She was very proud of her accomplishment, as was all of her family, particularly her grandchildren. Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wyatt Nickerson, who died in 1983. Nickerson, III and his wife Maggie of Lewes, Dawne Nickerson-Banez and her husband Tom, of Dover, Wendy L. Bonney and her husband Paul, of Newark, and Tracey L. Grossman and her husband Mike, of Dover. Kathryn had a hand in raising over 25 children; some her own, some belonging to others. She was always there with a smile, a hot meal and a paddle if needed. Great-grandchildren are, Thomas W. Nickerson IV, Logan R. Nickerson, Cameron, Hannah, Rachel and Jack Bonney, Brady Kovach, Nicholas, Joshua and Steven Grossman, Shannon Hargraves, and Shawn Riley. Kathryn also had one great-great-grandchild, Thomas W. Nickerson, V.; one very special young man also called Kathryn "Mom-Mom", Michael Rumsey of Kentucky.
