Kathryn Barker Pavon, 71

KENNEDYVILLE, MD - Kathryn Barker Pavon, 'Miss Kay', died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, in her home. She was 71. Miss Kay was born on Feb. 17, 1937 in West Chester, Pa., daughter of Robert C. Barker and the late Margaret Dewees Barker. In 1972 she and her family moved to Kent County. In 1975, she began her career working and managing Vonnie's Sporting Goods, which she took ownership of in 1995, and currently owns and operates. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her store dogs, Mindy and Abby, and the sportsmen of Kent County and the surrounding area. Miss Kay is survived by her father, Robert Barker of Chestertown; five children, Brenda Lyons and her husband Larry of Chestertown, Barbara Pavon of Reston, Va., Carol Gerken and her husband David of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Chris Pavon and his wife Paula of Chestertown, and Peggy Pavon of Parkville; a brother, Kenneth C. Barker of Exton, Pa.; and six grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Middletown Friends Meeting, 435 N. Middletown Road, Lima, Pa. Burial in adjoining cemetery.
