Kathlyene (Legates) Churay, 80

MASSEY, Md. - Kathlyene (Legates) Churay, of Massey, died Monday, May 5, 2008, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 80.

Mrs. Churay was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Easton, daughter of the late Hayward and Mamie (Fredericks) Legates.

She was raised in Townsend, Del., and after her marriage in 1953 moved to Massey, raising her family near the family farm.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Churay was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Alfred Churay, in 1996; and two sisters, Norma Lea Pinder and Ellen Odgers.

She is survived by four daughters, Kathe Denbeck of Kennedyville, Deborah Voshell of Worton, Karen Ruba of Clayton, Del., and Cris Green and her husband Dennis of Parkesburg, Pa.; and seven grandchildren, Bret Denbeck, Matthew and Amanda Voshell, Cody Ruba, and Benjamin, Nicholas and Maximilian Green.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Galena Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Kent County Relay for Life, P.O. Box 1001, Chestertown, MD 21620.
