CAMBRIDGE – The election is more than a year away, but campaigning has already begun for the 2018 Maryland Gubernatorial Election, set for Nov. 6. Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz visited Cambridge on Sept. 27 for a tour of the city. He was accompanied by members of the Eastern Shore Network for Change (ESNC), among other local citizens and officials. “The Kamenetz for Governor campaign reached out to us to learn more about Cambridge and we were happy to give him a tour of the city and explain our history and the unique challenges we face,” a statement from ESNC said. “We are constantly looking for ways to educate people about the greatness of Cambridge and we welcome other candidates to come and learn about us as well.” The ESNC is a group founded to raise awareness of local issues, to educate residents and to foster change. “It was a beautiful day to be in Dorchester County for a tour of Cambridge to learn about the city’s powerful history - and its bright future,” a statement from the campaign said. “This year marks the 50th anniversary of the city’s fire and civil unrest along Pine Street. Today, thanks to people like Dion and Kisha with the Eastern Shore Network For Change, Cambridge is having the difficult conversations that will continue the healing of this community. Thank you for having me on the latest stop of my#RealResultsTour.” Mr. Kamenetz graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law. In 1994, he was elected to the Baltimore County Council, where he served four terms. The Republican and Democratic primaries will be held on June 26.
