Kahle McKinley
Shaner, 24
MILFORD - Kahle McKinley Shaner passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Kahle was born September 16, 1999, in Dover, Delaware to Robert Shaner and Susan Masten.
From a young age Kahle had a great passion for the outdoors. This love carried on throughout his adulthood where he would spend all his free time on or near the water. He created his own lures and would offer them to other avid fishermen through a business he named Southside Custom Jigs. It didn't matter what hour it was or if he was by foot, kayak or boat Kahle would find a way to fish. He worked hard to perfect those skills and enjoyed bringing his friends and family along to learn his ways on the water. He was a fiercely passionate teammate on both the Caesar Rodney Lacrosse Program (#9) as well as the Virginia Wesleyan University Lacrosse Team (#19). In 2018, Kahle's Senior year, he proudly assisted the CR Lacrosse Program as a midfield player to compete in the State Championship. As an adult, Kahle was able to apply his creativity and resourcefulness through his employment at Arenas Signs. He manned the Ad Boat along the Delaware Bay and eventually was tasked with installing billboards and lettering for local companies. Kahle was compassionate and kind which left a lasting impact on everyone he met. There is no doubt that Kahle left this earth much better than he found it.
Kahle was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Smith; and great grandmother, Shirley Shaner.
He is survived by his mother, Susie Masten and her husband Jamie of Milford; and father, Robert Shaner and his wife Sarah of Dover; brothers, Gage Foster of Dover and Joshua Masten of Milford; sister, Michelle Spicer and her husband Logan Spicer of Milford; and nephew, Karson Kaiser.
A celebration of his life will be held 5PM, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A visitation will be held from 3-5PM.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Put Em Back Movement. Donations will be used toward preserving local waterways; a concept that Kahle felt strongly about. More details can be found here -
