June Darlis Steinhoff

WILMINGTON -June Darlis Steinhoff passed away on Tuesday, April 12th, 2011, in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Del. June was born in Danville, Pa., on June 9, 1926, the eldest daughter of Ada and Cameron Aten. After graduation from high school, she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, where she earned her RN certification at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Later on, in the 1960s, she earned her Bachelor's degree as a school nurse, with teaching certification, at West Chester State Teacher's College, now West Chester University. June taught first grade at Silverside Elementary School until its closing and Forwood Elementary School thereafter. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her husband and her many relatives. June was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Phil; and her sister, Elsie Emerick. She is survived by her sister, Shirley LaMotte; her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Margaret Steinhoff of Dover, her son George Steinhoff; and daughter, Karla Steinhoff, both of Newark; and her beloved grand-daughter, Lorraine Steinhoff, also of Dover. June will be interred at the memorial garden of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Road, Wilmington, DE, on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 12:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, (302) 633-4420, www.alz.org/desjsepa. Arrangements by Cremation Service of Delaware.
