June Bushey Alwine, 49 HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. - June Bushey Alwine, 49, of Hummelstown and formerly of Sterling, Va., passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Milford, on June 28, 1960, she was the daughter of Barbara Clendaniel Gehlert wife of William H. of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Norman David Bushey husband of Sarah K. of Avondale. June worked for the M.S. Hershey Medical Center in the Outpatient Pre Arrival Services Department. She was a 1978 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Del.; and a 1979 graduate of the Wilma Boyd Career School, Pittsburgh. June was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. As a breast cancer survivor, June was a strong advocate for breast cancer awareness and early detection. June touched the lives of many children through her involvement in youth activities. She ran a day care in Sterling, Va., for 15 years; helped with fund raising and sporting events for her sons; and was a former Youth Group Advisor for Community Lutheran Church, Sterling, Va. She was an avid reader, NASCAR, and sports fan; but most enjoyed spending time with her family camping. In addition to her parents, June is survived by her husband of 29 years, John P. Alwine, whom she married on March 21, 1981; two sons, James T. Alwine of Hummelstown, and Jeffrey A. Alwine of Sterling, Va.; two sisters, Dawn E. Bushey, and Kimberly B. Somers wife of Joseph Michael both of Rehoboth Beach; her mother-in-law, Jane Carroll Alwine of Hummelstown; three sisters-in-law, Joyce A. Roy wife of Charles of Camp Hill, Janice L. Alwine of Susquehanna Township, and Jean L. Seitz wife of Gregory of Hummelstown; and several step brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 10, in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Dr. Darlis J. Swan officiating and Diaconal Minister Marsha Roscoe assisting. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.
