DOVER - Joyce I. Mest, of Dover and formerly of Long Neck, Delaware, and Green Lane, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 2, 2011, in Kent General Hospital in Dover. Joyce was born on January 31, 1933, in Vera Cruz, Pennsylvania. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Russell and Queenie Weidner; and a brother, William Weidner. Joyce enjoyed being a nurse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed taking trips, cruising, boating, fishing, crabbing and was an avid poker player. Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy Mest; children, David Mest and spouse Nancy Mest, Joanne Mayer and spouse Paul Mayer, Debra Royer and spouse Dwight Royer, Kenneth Mest and spouse Colleen Mest, Douglas Mest and spouse Mark Pelekakis; grandchildren, Nicholas Royer and spouse Melissa Clymer, Alyssa Pepper and spouse Fred Pepper, Nathan Royer and spouse Elizabeth Royer, Stacy Mest and fiance Andrew Churchill, and Patrick Mest; and one great-grandchild, Isaac Royer. Her family would like to thank the ICU of Kent General Hospital for the care she was given during her illness and for all the prayers and wishes from all of her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. November 20, 2011, at Westminster Village in Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggest a donation to Westminster Village, 171 Westminster Drive Dover, DE 19904 in her memory. Services provided by Trader Funeral Home Dover, DE.
