Josephine Stafford Wendig

HENDERSON, Md. - Josephine Stafford Wendig, of Henderson, died on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 72. Jo was born on July 16, 1939, in Millington, Md. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Raymond Stafford Sr. and Grace Pearson. She worked in the food service at the Wye River Conference Center for many years. Jo loved all of nature and being outside, gardening and feeding her wild birds. She also enjoyed reading and loved her dogs, Abby and Bogie. The most important thing in her life was spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, David Wendig, Jo is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ann Wendig of Easton, Md.; her son, David L. Wendig of Henderson, Md.; two brothers, Floyd Stafford Jr. of Millington, Md., and Cliff Stafford of Millington, Md.; three sisters, Virginia "Jenny" Smith of Crumpton, Md., Sue Ann Bratton of Clayton, and Debra Jean King of Millington, Md.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 370 West Cypress Street, Millington, where relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Crumpton Cemetery following the service.
