SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Joseph R. Pechin, 66, of Sudlersville, died Sept. 21, 2011, in Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, Md. Mr. Pechin was born on July 14, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Marcel and Cecelia Benditt Pechin. He was raised in Crumpton, and moved to Kennedyville where he worked for Jack Fernwalt, farming for 20 years. He operated a lawn care and collectable business then later moved to Sudlersville. Mr. Pechin enjoyed fishing, animals and watching TV. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley Mills Pechin; two daughters, Peggy Short (George, Jr.) and Sandra Reed (John W., Jr.) all of Sudlersville; three brothers, Marcel Pechin, Jr. (Virginia) of Sudlersville, Henri Pechin, Sr. (Agnes) of Massey, Md., and George Pechin, Sr. of Williamsville; two sisters, Helene Pardoe of Pennsylvania, and Marie Darling of Worton, Md.; and three grandsons, Kristofer Short, Nicholas Short and Bradley Reed. Friends may call on Monday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Greensboro, Md.
