FELTON - Joseph P. Tompkins, Farmer, of Felton passed away on July 28, 2022 at his daughter's home. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Freda (Reese) and Thomas J. Tompkins.
Mr. Tompkins was a yard supervisor for 84 Lumber in Dover, retiring after over 20 years of service. Previously, he had been a homebuilder in the Dover area for many years. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar, and working on model cars. He loved to build and repair things, and he was your typical "Fred Sanford". He enjoyed helping people, had a terrific sense of humor, and was very clever. He also enjoyed listening to music, having a beer, and hanging out with his favorite people.
Mr. Tompkins is survived by his wife, Belinda (Gruwell) Tompkins; four daughters, Dawn Hudson and her husband Ian of Felton, Michelle Toro and her husband Jose of Camden, Marsha Tompkins and her husband Marvin of Camden, and Bobbiejo Tompkins of Dover; one brother, Paul Tompkins of Milton; three sisters, Sheila Thorp of Dover, Paula Bollman and her husband John of Dover, and Judy Lester of Dover; 14 grandchildren, Ryshja, Nadica, Mark, Dion, Joey, Aliyah, Shaun, Dyasia, Damya, Serenity, Manny, Jose, Danaya and Braxton; two great grandchildren, Nyla and Isabella; two special nieces, Billie Jo and Kayla; and two lifelong best friends, Eddie Cain and Wayne Cason; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bunkie and Wayne; and by his sisters, June and Margaret.
A funeral will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where friends visit with the family from 3-4 with services for all following. Burial will be private.
