MILTON - Joseph Martin Truitt Jr., age 58, of Milton, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was born Dec. 19, 1950, in Milford, son of the late J. Martin Truitt and Norma Lee (Stauffer) Truitt of Rehoboth Beach. At the time of his death, Mr. Truitt was employed by Peninsula Masonry, Inc. of Harbeson, where he was the road superintendent and managed other aspects of the business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country from 1970-1974; he remained active with the Army Reserves until 1976. Many will remember him as a man of chance and generosity. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and home improvement projects. He was a devoted father, grandfather, partner, son and brother, and he will be sorely missed by his many friends and colleagues. In addition to his mother, Norma Lee Truitt, he is survived by his two daughters, Christina N. Truitt and grandson, Cameron L. Hercules, of New Castle, and Allison L. Truitt of Rehoboth Beach; mother of his children, Cynthia L. Truitt of Rehoboth Beach; his fiance of 16 years, Barbara Mitchell of Milton; and three siblings, Daniel B. Truitt of Laurel, Lisa T. McAllister of Queenstown, Md., and Rowland E. Truitt. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19901. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes. Letters of condolence may be sent to condolences@parsellfuneralhomes.com.
