Joseph Lingan Theophilus Spicer

Joseph Lingan Theophilus Spicer, 79 SEAFORD - Joseph Lingan Theophilus Spicer, of Seaford, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008, in Lofland Care, Seaford. He was 79. He was born at Golden Hill on Aug. 4, 1928, and was a son of Levin Theophilus and Ethel Robinson Spicer. Mr. Spicer graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. He served in the Army National Guard. He worked for DuPont for over forty years and retired on Dec. 31, 1991. On Dec. 30, 1988, he married the former R. Elaine Hughes. Some of his hobbies were gardening, wood working and being out on the water. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Fehsenfeld; two aunts, Evelyn Webster, and Alexina Blissard; and a nephew, Stevie Dodd. He is survived by his wife, R. Elaine Spicer of Seaford; a daughter, Donna Carter and husband Wayne of Seaford; a son, Jon Spicer of Seaford; a grandson, Christopher Prine of Seaford; three sisters, Doris Dove of Salisbury, Md., Ruth Gray of Cambridge, Md., and Ann Eberspacher of Cambridge, Md.; a cousin, David Blissard of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Alan Mitchell, Lee Gray, Wayne Carter, Christopher Prine, Fulton Thomas and Russell Gray. Honorary Pallbearer will be Allen Keene. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.thomasfuneralhomepa.com.
