DOVER - Joseph H. Vrudny, of Dover, passed away Fri., Dec. 31, 2010, at Kent General Hospital. He was 69. Mr. Vrudny was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Arnold, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph Vrudny and Phyllis O'Neil Vrudny. After completing High School in Arnold, he graduated from Indiana State College and received his Masters Degree from the University of Delaware. He taught Algebra, and Geometry at Stephen Decatur High School in Maryland, Laurel High School, and at Caesar Rodney High School for over 21 years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Vrudny worked summers at Philips Crab House as the carryout manager for 25 years. Mr. Vrudny was a member of the Delaware Retired School Personnel Association as well as past president, an AARP representative and board member and also attended finance committee meetings. He was a life member of Sigma Phi Epsilon a member of Irish Society of Del-Mar-VA and the Standard Bred Owners Association as well as a certified trainer. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. Mr. Vrudny coached several sports in Caesar Rodney School but was especially proud of the 1975 Baseball State Championship. He also served as Athletic Director at Caesar Rodney High School for several years. He loved all sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. Mr. Vrudny was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori Lyn; and brother David Varnay. He is survived by his son, Joseph "Ty" Vrudny and his wife Amanda; his loving companion of 29 years, Nancy Wallace; and her children, Kristine Wallace Schultz, Kelley Wallace Schneidwind and Howell Foster Wallace, III "Trey"; nine grandchildren; and many, many wonderful friends and family members. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wed., Jan. 5, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover.
