Joseph "Archie" Goodine passed away peacefully on April 16, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born in Medford, New Brunswick, Canada in 1934, Joe was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Madeline (Michaud) Goodine. He lived in several locations in the Northeastern US and Canada, and he travelled extensively throughout both countries during his lifetime. He worked for 40 plus years in the transportation industry and was a nationally recognized consultant on matters in this area. Before his retirement, he worked 21 years with Betts Industries in Warren, Pa. Joe bravely served his country in the US Army during 1950's. He was member of the Knights of Columbus and B.P.O.E. of Kinderhook, N.Y. and the American Legion. Joe was an exceptional handyman, mechanic, and do-it-yourselfer. His family nickname was "MacGuyver." He loved auto and boat racing. In his leisure time, he could be found puttering and tinkering on something in his garage. Above all else, Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Pius and Reginald. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Mary Ann (Moyer) Goodine; sons, Dorian (Tina), Daniel, Dale (Jennifer), David (Maria) and Derek; brother, Vernon Goodine (Bernice) and sister Carmen Hendrick. He was fondly known as "Papa Joe" to his grandchildren, Rachel, Zachary, Kayla and Paul. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday Eve, April 22, 2014 and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335, 610-269-3080, followed by his Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Online condolences at www.donohuefuneralhome.com.
