Joseph F. White Jr.

GREENSBORO, Md. - Joseph F. White, Jr. of Greensboro, died Saturday, Sept. 04, 2010, at the Memorial Hospital in Easton. He was 90 years old. Born in Ridgely, on May 14, 1920, Mr. White was the son of the late Joseph Floyd White, Sr. and Hilda Wilhelmina Kershaw Wirts. He lived in Caroline County all of his life. His wife, Maude Lorraine Gottwals White, died March 20, 2005. Mr. White was in the US Navy during WWII, serving in the Pacific on the Battleship USS New Mexico. He was a lifetime member of the American Battleship Association and the USS New Mexico Association. He had been a partner with Walls and White Garage in Goldsboro until he retired in the late 1980's. He was also a carpenter. In addition to his wife, Mr. White was preceded in death by one son, John Frase; one brother, Charles White; and one sister, Hilda Willis. Mr. White is survived by three daughters, Alma L. Dean of Onancock, Va., Ruth F. Thawley of Price, and Judith F. Wright of Denton; one son, James M. Frase-White of Northfield, N.H.; a sister, Josephine E. Wooters of American Corner; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second Street in Denton, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening. The interment will be in the Greensboro Cemetery in Greensboro.
