HARTLY - Joseph F. Nickerson, Jr. "Uncle Joe" of Hartly passed away, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Christiana Hospital.
Joe was born September 16, 1963, in Dover, Delaware to Joseph F. Nickerson, Sr. and the late Catherine Seward Nickerson (Kitty).
He graduated from Dover High School in 1981. Joe had retired from the State of Delaware in 2006 after 25 years as a Material Tech. He worked at Starkey Farms for 29 years as a mechanic. If you ever met Joe, you know how much he loved his "assets". Joe loved being by the water, whether it was fishing, crabbing, or camping in his RV. In his earlier years he enjoyed riding his Harley. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren, attending their sports games, always spoiling them with candy no matter what time of day or night. Joe was a life member of the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his father, Joseph F. Nickerson, Sr. of Hartly; his soul mate and side kick of 23 years, Karen Ptak "Baseball" of Hartly; children, Nicole Riddleberger and her husband Matt of Denton, MD, Melinda "Melissa" Cutchin and her fiancé Bill Biddle of Hartly, Bobby Cutchin of Garland, TX, Michael Alan "Buck" Nickerson of Dover; brother, Dwayne Alan Nickerson and his wife Dawna of Hartly; sister, Joanne Marie Pugh and her husband Craig of Leipsic; grandchildren, Brayden Cutchin, Camryn "Camo" Riddleberger, Gabriel "Gabe" Riddleberger, and Ryker Biddle; niece, Lauren Nickerson of Hartly; nephew, Dylan Joseph "Dyl" Nickerson and his wife Jenna of Hartly; his beloved dog and co-pilot, Fynnly; as well as many friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 10-12. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Hartly Ambulance Fund, PO Box 28, Hartly, DE 19953.
