Joseph Ewing Richardson

DOVER - Joseph Ewing "Jack" Richardson of Dover, died on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 74. Born on May 22, 1941 in Price, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph Hill and Gertrude Cecilia Ewing Richardson. Mr. Richardson worked as a brick mason with Diamond State Masonry. He enjoyed harness racing, fox hunting, working on his tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren. In his earlier years, he really enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Harrington and her husband Michael of Clayton; a son, Eric Richardson and his wife Angela of Smyrna; two sisters, Joanne Clothier of Chestertown, Md. and Norma Jean Fishpaw of Lynchburg, Va.; a brother, James E. Richardson of Harrington; and six grandchildren, Aaron Hunt, Katie Harrington and Brandon Harrington all of Clayton, and John Richardson, Nick Richardson and Anna Richardson all of Smyrna. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Betty Richardson of Smyrna. Services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St. Millington, Md., where relatives and friends may call on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Hillsboro, Md., following the service.
