He passed away peacefully with his family and his companion by his side at the Delaware Hospice Center of Milford. Born on Sept. 15, 1924, in Church Hill, Md., he was the son of the late Ada (Smith) and John W. Walls Sr. John proudly served his country in the US Navy during WW II and the citizens of the State of Delaware for 20 years with the Delaware State Police, retiring as Staff Captain. Upon retirement from the State Police he was employed as the safety director of Nu - Car Carriers and as a Country Gentleman for Cracker Barrel Restaurants. John lived a full life and especially enjoyed traveling, relaxing in Florida during the winter months, and spending time with his family and his grandsons, Johnny and Jimmy. He is survived by his son, John W. Walls III and his wife Sue of Berlin, MD; a daughter, Cindy W. Axelson and her husband Ron of Newark, DE; two grandsons, John Tyler Walls of Arlington, VA and James Ryan Walls of Berlin, MD and his companion of 12 years Lorraine Mullaney of Millville, DE. John was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie F. Walls. He served on the Board of Directors of Camp Barnes, was a member of the Association of Retired Delaware State Police, an active member of the VFW Post 7234, a member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge. John was also a member of the Masonic Organization. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Beebe Hospital and Delaware Hospice Center of Milford for the special care shown to John and his family.
