MARYDEL, DE - John Thomas Foley, Jr. "Jack" "Smiley" passed away, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Bayhealth Dover.
Jack was born January 30, 1950 in Glen Cove, New York to the late John Thomas Foley, Sr. and Mary Magnusson Foley. At the age of 12 he and his family moved to a farm outside Middletown, Delaware in Warwick, MD.
He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1968 to 1972. Jack received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He retired after almost 23 years from Dover Police Department as a Sgt and 19 years as Constable for the Sheriff's Office. Jack received the 1st Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Award and was on the Dive Team. He enjoyed Scuba diving and photography. Jack also enjoyed bird watching and all of the animals he could watch from his front porch everyday. He found joy in everyone and everything around him. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marydel and was 4th Degree Knights of Columbus – Assembly 149 in Dover and Euchanistic Minister of Communion.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Crenshaw Foley.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim Hughley and her husband Anthony of York, PA and Lauren Folrez and her husband Adrian of Seattle, WA; brothers, Richard Foley and his wife Kathy and Donald Foley and his wife Bonnie all of Warwick, MD; sisters, Mariann Baker and her husband Gary of Milford, DE, Virginia Kauffman and her husband Robert of Lewes, and Elizabeth Watkins and her husband Mark of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Aidan, Kyra, Issac, Carl; and companion, Jane Youmans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 522 Main Street, Marydel, MD 21649. A viewing will be held Monday evening 4/1 from 4-6 pm at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, DE 19904. Interment will be in Old Bohemian Cemetery next to his wife.
