HARRINGTON - John P. Passwaters Sr., of Harrington, passed away June 24, 2011. He was 81. John Passwaters retired from the National Guard after 20 years of service. He worked maintenance in the Camden, N.J., sewage treatment plant for several years. Mr. Passwaters was first and foremost a minister. He may have held other jobs but he always served God first including serving inter-city missions in Camden, N.J., and Philadephia, Pa., with his family. Mr. Passwaters was a member of the Lebanon Wesleyan Church in Lebanon where he made the church his life. He was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge as well as the local Hunter's club. Mr. Passwaters loved to hunt, garden, and play golf as well as raising honey bees. He was the type of person to help you if you needed something. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Passwaters of Harrington; daughter, Catherine Wright of Vineland, N.J.; sisters, Rosa Clendaniel of Harrington, and Pearl Harvile of Redding, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Cecelia Passwaters; son, John Phillip Passwaters Jr.; daughter, Diana Quinones; brothers, Harvey, Carlos, and Bill Passwaters; and sisters, Roberta and Mildred. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, July 1, at Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, where a visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
