MILFORD - John P. Froland Sr. of Newburgh N.Y. and Milford, Del., formerly of Sloatsburg N.Y. entered into rest to be with his beloved wife on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 2, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant N.Y., to John and Sue Froland. John was a retired postal carrier for the Suffern Post Office. He was a Past Chief and life member of the Sloatsburg Volunteer Fire Department, life member of the Rockland County Fire Chief's Association and life member of the Rockland County Volunteer Firemen's Association, as well as a current member of Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department Station 42 in Milford De. John is survived by his daughters, Virginia Sochulak and husband Kenneth of Mahwah N.J., Elizabeth Donnelly and husband Matthew of Newburgh N.Y.; his son, John Froland Jr. and his wife Debbie of Pine Bush N.Y.; and his sister, Carol Kraft of Edmeston N.Y.; three granddaughters, Cindy, Christine and Jessica. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews. John is predeceased by his loving wife, Agnes of 52 years; his mother and father; sisters, Arlene, Judy and Rosemarie; and brother James. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14th, 2011, at Scarr Funeral Home, 160 Orange Avenue, Suffern N.Y. A brief service will take place at Scarr Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15th, 2011, with burial to follow at Mahwah Cemetery, Island Rd, Mahwah N.J. Memorial donations can be made in John's behalf to Sloatsburg Volunteer Fire Department at PO Box 115 Sloatsburg NY 10974 or Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 292, Milford DE 19663.
