GREENWOOD - John Mark Swartzentruber, Sr. son of Milt and Savanna Bender Swartzentruber, was ushered into the presence of Jesus on Aug. 26, 2015. John was born in Greenwood, Del., on Jan. 23, 1936. He lived all his life in Greenwood and was a member of the Greenwood Mennonite Church and the Greenwood Cheer Activity Center. John was a farmer, butcher, and sheep-sheerer. He helped with the licensed elderly care in his home. For 45 years he owned an airplane and loved flying out of the runway on the farm. There was almost nothing John couldn't fix and enjoyed teaching his children "how to" as well. John loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed reading his Bible and when the church doors were open, he wanted to be there with his family. He was thankful for his loving wife, children, their spouses, and his 16 grandchildren. John is survived by his wife Marjorie to whom he was married almost 55 years and five children: son, John Mark Swartzentruber, Jr. of Greenwood, Del.; son, Dean Swartzentruber of Greenwood, Del.; son, Don Swartzentruber of Warsaw, Ind.; daughter, Jeana Beno of Wilmington, Del.; son, Del Swartzentruber of Bridgeville, Del.; and 16 grandchildren; and by his brother Lewis Swartzentruber of Greenwood, Del. John was preceded in death by siblings Elizabeth Kauffman, Carolyn Mast, and Milton Swartzentruber. Services include: Visitation on Saturday, August 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Visitation on Sunday, August 30, 1:00 p.m. and Memorial 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Road, Greenwood, Del. Arrangements made by Fleischauer Funeral Home in Greenwood.
