SEAFORD - John M. Russell Jr, age 81 of Bridgeville, DE died on Friday, February 28, 2014. Mr. Russell was an Iron Worker for Local 456 before retiring. He served in the Navy Seabees in Korean War, He was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 6 in Seaford and Past President of Delaware Boys State. His wife Bette died in 2009. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Russell and a grandson, Robert K. Russell. John is survived by 3 sons, John M. Russell III, Robert K. Russell (Linda), and Mark O. Russell (Robin), 4 grandchildren, Jason Russell, Josh Russell, Rachael Russell and Raquell Mahardy, a brother, Vaughn Russell (Helen), a sister, Marilee Bradley and 6 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his prize dog, Charlie. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 6th at 10 AM at the CRANSTON FUNERAL HOME, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford, DE, where friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations may be made to the charity of your choice in John's name.
